Some fun times at General Synod. When in Milwaukee, you are entertained by a world famous accordion player. When there are technical difficulties, he keeps playing and polka dancing breaks out. We have heard a wide variety of musical traditions. We even learned a new song from our local folks: In heaven there is no beer That’s why we drink it here And when we’re gone from here Our friends will be drinking all the beer! AMAZING HOW FAST THEY FIXED THOSE TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES!!!
Looking for something fun to Do tomorrow? Saturday, May 18, come help out at the Dedham Church Bean Supper! There’s a spot for every level of talent. We need waiters and coffee servers, dish cleaners and pie cutters, Bean scoopers and brown bread steamers. Come at 4:30 pm if you’d like to help out in the dining room. We start serving at 5:00 pm. Tonight’s ecumenical Lenten Worship Service will be at the East Orrington Congregational Church at 6:30 pm. Join the members of the East of the Penobscot Ministerium churches as we journey through lent together. Refreshments and Fellowship follow our worship tonight. All are welcome! Our offering supports our shared fuel and emergency fund for our communities.
A prayer for today. Gracious and loving God: Our hearts ache for the family of this servant, whose life here has ended. Let us be forever grateful for these police officers, fire fighters, and all first responders who come to our aid. Lord in your mercy, guide us to be mindful of their safety, and make us act in accordance with the respect and love we have for their lives. May this State Trooper be greeted with your embrace, hearing you say “well done, thy good and faithful servant.” Amen

What’s for supper? Beans of course! Come on over to the Dedham Congregational Church tonight for a fundraising bean supper and silent auction for our neighbor, Phyllis Bishop. Doors open at 4:30 pm and beans start being served at 5:00 pm ending at 6:30 pm. $10 adults Come on over and show your support for Phyllis as we help her recover from the tragic loss of her husband, dog, and home from a terrible fire. Love will be dining at these tables tonight!
Tonight we worship with our family in our East of the Penobscot Ministerium. Join us at 6:30 pm at the N. Brewer/Eddington United Methodist Church for music, the Word and fellowship. Our offering tonight supports our emergency fund that supplies fuel to our communities. Come enjoy yourself with us while we celebrate God’s Grace

Saturday, twenty women and one fearless gentleman enjoyed our parish retreat “Bad Girls of the Bible” presented by the Reverend Sarah Pringle-Lewis at the Dedham Church for our common parish. Thank you to everyone who participated today, and a special thank you to Sarah for taking her time to lead us in this fun educational experience.
Join us for Ash Wednesday worship at 6:30 pm. Tonight we begin our Ministerium Shared Lenten Services at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Brewer. Pastor Linette George will be the guest preacher. Come join us for receipt of ashes and the sacrament of communion. The offering collected at these services funds our shared ecumenical fuel and emergency fund. Our weekly Lenten Series continues a long standing tradition of worshipping together and bringing the churches of the Eastern side of the Penobscot River together to love our neighbor.
